We meet quarterly, at 2pm, usually in the Foyer at Wesley Centre, to discuss a book we have mutually agreed to read.  Everyone is welcome to join.

Monday 8 April : Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

Classic French novel. Charles Bovary, a good hearted ut dull and ambitious doctor with a meagre practice, marries Emma, a beautiful farm girl raised in a convent.

 

 

Monday 10 June : The Citadel by A.J. Cronin.

First published in1937, a ground-breaking novel in its treatment of the contentious theme of medical ethics. It has been credited with laying the foundations in Geat Britain for the introduction of the NHS a decade later.
